Welcome
to Arundel Brewery's website! While you are here, don't
forget
to
have
a look
at the Links page, which
features
selected local pubs, off licences, restaurants, etc. that stock
our beers. Thirsty drinkers need to know where they can find
our
products.
We
work hard with the licensed trade to make sure that our draught
beers reach you in top condition. We have also developed a
range of bottled beers which has proved very successful in
the supermarket trade. Our bottled ales are now stocked locally
by branches of Asda, Sainsbury, Tesco, Threshers and Unwins,
and of course in independent off-licences and restaurants.
Our greatest success in this field was
having bottled ASB win first prize in the 2008 Tesco
Drinks Awards.
Please
visit us again to catch up with our news and developments – and
don't forget that we have an off licence, so retail customers
can buy our draught or bottled beer straight from the brewery
door. Click here for
further details.
Local Archaeology
Before
the present small industrial estate was constructed on Ford
airfield, local archaeologists were invited to excavate
the area, since it was rumoured to have been the site of a great
centre of Celtic culture and festivities. Most interesting amongst
the finds were fragments of ancient earthenware drinking vessels,
inscribed with Celtic runes which seemed to form part of a single
epic poem. While it has proved impossible to piece together all
of the lost verses, the final stanza is of particular interest
to scholars and brewing historians. The conclusion of this archaic
rhyme, loosely translated, is shown in the next column.

Brewery's
cask-conditioned Sussex Mild came home with a gold medal from
the Brewing Industry's International Awards in 2004. It beat
all-comers
for Dark Milds, Stouts and Porters in the range 2.5-4.1% ABV
(alcohol by volume) – a success which reinforces the
brewery's commitment to this endangered beer style. |
